Recognizable by its signature buckets of fried chicken and its logo featuring the chain's founder, Harland Sanders, KFC is the largest fried chicken chain in the world. Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, the company oversees more than 18,000 units; over 75% of which operate outside of the United States.
In the midst of declining sales in the U.S through 2014 and 2015, KFC attempted to boost its sales through a $185 million turnaround campaign, which included remodeling stores and reviving Colonel Sanders in new television ads.
In April 2016, KFC announced a new “Re-Colonelization” plan. Managers and cooks underwent re-certification in KFC’s Chicken Mastery program, where they were retrained in the process of cooking Original Recipe chicken. KFC also set a goal of remodeling over 3,000 restaurants over the next three years.
