Minding their business at Current Meditation
You hear a lot about mediation in franchising, but not meditation.(What a difference a “t” makes, especially if it’s herbal.) But thanks to a group of Massage Envy, European Wax and Amazing Lash Studio franchisees that’s about to change.
Members from three related families are the team behind Current Meditation, about to launch in Phoenix. Led by Ross Weisman, the meditation studios won’t be an add-on for a yoga or gym concept. Why? Because for the most part, yoga studios in the U.S. focus more on getting bodies in shape, than on the mind.
To find out more about how we can all be more mindful while we wait for the brand to be rolled out nationally, we spoke to Hamid Jabbar, former high-powered litigator turned yoga and meditation teacher. Here are his tips:
Breath is our life force, more important than that email you were just looking at. So give it the attention it deserves.
Follow the old saw: If you only have 20 minutes a day to meditate, do it for an hour (in other words: the busier you are the more you need it).
The only side effect of meditation (resetting the brain) is falling asleep. How do you know if a person is sleeping or meditating? When they snore, Jabbar says. For more on Jabbar and why everyone in franchising should meditate, check out FT’s blog.
