Get to know the founder of Everbowl, in Grab Bag
“I would stockpile the specific Nike socks I always wear. It sounds kinda cheesy when I say it out loud.” — Jeff Fenster, founder & CEO, Everbowl
Who would play you in the biopic about your life?
Oh, that actor who played Rocky Balboa’s son, he was also in ‘Heroes’ (looks it up on IMBD) … Milo Ventimiglia. Just from watching his personality, he’d be a goofy, funny guy. Or Sean Connery, but he’s a little old for me.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Alligator. I actually had that in Lake Tahoe, of all places. It was very gamey, really chewy. The seasoning was good but I don’t think I’d eat it again.
What’s something not many people know about you?
That I’m not really comfortable in big groups. Even though I’m pretty much in them all the time.
What’s something you would seriously stockpile if you found out it wasn’t going to be sold anymore?
I would stockpile … as funny as it sounds, I would stockpile the specific Nike socks I always wear. It sounds kind of cheesy when I say it out loud. It’s just the little ankle socks, the ones that are thin. The others I’ve tried feel too thick.
If you could be a member of any TV show family, which would it be?
I would pick ‘Full House.’ It’s my daughter’s favorite show. Or I guess it’s ‘Fuller House’ now, they revamped it. Of course I watched it when I was growing up … I’d be in Danny’s family. I was going to say ‘Seinfeld’ but that’s not really a family, though I kind of have Jerry’s parents.
What’s one trend you wish would die?
TikTok. Really just the TikTok dancing. My 14-year-old and her friends are just always making these weird, jerky gestures. I don’t get it.
What’s your favorite travel destination?
Cozumel. I like to scuba dive, the scuba diving there is really good. I’ve seen sharks, turtles, eels, there’s amazing coral reefs. The weather is perfect, the locals are great … you can call it heaven.

What are you freakishly bad at (or good at)?
I’m a really bad dancer. Something I’m really good at is making friends.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A professional athlete. I wanted to play in the NFL. I’ll save you the suspense, I didn’t. But that’s what then got me thinking I’d like to be a sports agent.
What superhero power would you most like to have?
My superpower would be a photographic memory. That would be amazing, like the ‘Good Will Hunting’ stuff. To just flip through a book and remember what was on every page.
What’s the last thing you cooked at home?
Honestly, it was Honey Nut Cheerios. I don’t really have to make bowls at home because I’m in our restaurants every day. I eat a bowl every day. At my restaurant it’s acai, some coco love (a coconut blend), with granola, grapes, blueberries, bee pollen and a little bit of honey. Sometimes I also add chia seeds.
Who or what did you have posters of on your bedroom wall as a teenager?
I had Magic Johnson, I had Bo Jackson, Ken Griffey Jr. and Carmen Electra. Yep, that’s what was on my walls.
