Perkins Restaurant and Bakery installed TransactionVault credit card-security software at 330 of its units nationwide. The software, made by enterprise and payment software developer Merchant Link, operates with MICROS 3700 point-of-sale systems and will allow Perkins to more effectively and safely process their customers' credit card information. At the point-of-sale, TransactionVault will protect credit card data by housing it Merchant Link's secure infrastructure; thereby reducing the overall potential for that data to be hacked.

Closed-loop card technologies provider Givex partnered with not-for-profit organization Tree Canada to launch a reforestation project aimed at countering the carbon dioxide emissions created by the production of plastic cards. Through the new project, Givex and Tree Canada will plant trees with every card order. This is not the first "green" project Givex has undertaken; the company also provides such products as recycled PVC cards and soy-based inks.  

Geeks On Call Holdings Inc., a provider of professional IT services and software, will use Ingram Micro, Inc. as its main technology distributor. Geeks On Call franchisees will now have access to Ingram's own catalog of products, computer parts and supplies. Currently, Ingram Micro provides 150 countries with its services.

In an effort to effectively manage both its IT costs and inbound product deliveries, Church's Chicken will now use OnDemand from software company ArrowStream. Through OnDemand, Church's Chicken will be able to synchronize its operations with those of its distributors and process service invoices more efficiently; potentially saving 500 man-hours per week. 

New York-based franchisor NexCen Brands has selected a retail software program from Radiant Systems Inc., for its two specialty retail concepts, The Athlete's Foot and Shoebox New York. Radiant offers retailers a retail point-of-sale system with CounterPoint retail software, hardware built specifically for retailers, integrated ecommerce and ongoing support. Counterpoint is easy to implement and includes inventory management, touch-screen POS ticket entry, built-in customer relationship management, automated purchasing and reporting.
