Acrobats kick off Hilton re-do
The multi-jointed acrobats dangling from bolts of cloths anchored to the ceiling of the newly remodeled Hilton Minneapolis during its grand reopening won’t be hanging around when future conferences book the center, but attendees will still be impressed. The party for media and event planners in early August was to show off the second phase of Minnesota’s largest hotel’s $27 million renovation. Invitees were treated to mock oyster shooters and a table of ready-made photo opps for Tweeters and Instagramers. The first phase refreshed the 821 guest rooms, while this one rebooted the common areas, including two floors of conference space. To accommodate guests who are more inclined to grab a snack or casual meal to take upstairs than order room service, space off the lobby is devoted to a grab-n-go area called the Ten 01 Market. The bar area was also reconfigured to be more open to socializing, a trend for millennials and a must for conference-goers.
