Company Description

Though No. 4 in terms of revenue, Subway is second only to the convenience-store chain 7-Eleven in terms of unit count, remaining one of the largest franchises in the world.

Founded by Peter Buck and Fred DeLuca in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1965, Subway has over 45,000 completely franchised units in over 100 countries.

Though Subway officially discontinued its famous “Five Dollar Footlong” deal, it often offers deals on its six-inch, eight-inch and foot-long create-your-own subs. DeLuca’s sister Suzanne Greco was replaced as CEO by Trevor Haynes, the sub chain’s former chief business development officer.
