Never put together the two words “franchise industry” in front of a purist. They will argue there is no such thing. The word "industry" denotes a specific professional pursuit, such as "the banking industry," our friends at Merriam-Webster report. So really, franchising is made up of many industries, from restaurants and automotive to health and beauty and hospitality. Instead of industry, let’s agree to use the word community.
