Bananas Shares Love With Unlikely Target: CPAs

Published:

The CPA was Bananas Smoothies & Frozen Yogurt's free offering to certified public accountants April 17 and 18.

Certified public accountants don’t get much love, at least in public, so imagine their delight when Bananas Smoothies offered a free drink made just for them on April 17 and 18. (For those who missed it, the IRS moved filing day to April 18 this year.)

“Everyone needs accountants, especially when the clock is ticking down to the infamous Tax Day deadline … but their hard work often goes unnoticed,” said Leslie Chinea, director of marketing for Bananas and parent company Villa Restaurant Group, in a press release. “The creation of The CPA is a fun way for us to say thanks for all those late nights trying to help us get those big returns.”

Anyone would want one of those CPAs the next time a big deadline looms: It has fresh strawberries, bananas and ice, with added Red Bull Yellow Edition, to keep people perky. Accountants were invited to get The CPA on the house when they presented a valid CPA license, but alas, no one was available to tell Franchise Times how many took them up on the offer. Perhaps they were all too tired to talk after a long tax season.
