Is Your Stapler Missing? How to Protect It
“There’s nothing worse at work than realizing someone has taken your stapler,” says Blake Zalcberg, CEO of OFM Inc., which makes and distributes office and school furniture.
Well, we can think of some: stinky foods at lunch; fund-raising shakedowns for co-workers’ children; officemates coughing up their lungs but not staying home until they’re well.
But we digress. Zalcberg’s company teamed up with Swingline, the stapler maker, to host the “Hands Off My Stapler Contest,” seeking photos from people showing how they protect their officer stapler. They gained inspiration from the movie Office Space, which features similar scenes.
The winners are in. The first-place winner, who will receive an OFM desk and a red Swingline stapler, attached a fake hand grenade to his stapler to keep office thieves away. Second place lined his stapler with suction cups to allow it to be hidden beneath the desk. Third place hung his stapler from the ceiling above a rubber shark in a fishbowl.
