Nine Openings in Four Days is Par for Sun Holdings
“Everyone’s going crazy right now,” said Guillermo Perales, CEO of Sun Holdings in Dallas, when reached last Friday. That’s because between then and Dec. 31 his company had to open four more Popeyes and five more Burger Kings.
Sun Holdings has been on an acquisition tear this year, going from 250 stores to 400 in about 10 months. The biggest one-time influx came when Burger King approached Sun to buy 99 stores in the Orlando area, and Perales seized the opportunity.
“They approached us and I jumped at it. I waited 15 years to have some brand coming to us and saying we want to sell you 100 units,” he said. Perales has added several administrative staff at headquarters to handle the new work, and is trying to sell locations far away from Texas and Florida in order to streamline operations.
“I hate to procrastinate. We find ways to make it happen,” he said.
