Learning Rx Boss Is Hands-On in Work, Life

Learning Rx CEO Kim Hanson has a big job on her hands—“My target is to take the 100,000 brains we’ve trained to 300,000 brains,” she told me during an interview at the International Franchise Expo, but that doesn’t keep her from other handiwork. 

She creates beautiful pottery, from yarn bowls to mugs to funky vases, and she was kind enough to send me one of her pieces this week to thank me for our time together at IFE in early June. Hanson is one CEO who knows how to make a memorable impression, and illustrates the multiple talents that so many leaders in franchising have.

Hanson returned 17 years ago to the franchise founded by her father, Ken Gibson, based on his research into how people learn and his methods for training brains, and she became CEO about 18 months ago. But her education at her father’s side started much, much earlier, when she was 4 years old and would go with him to business meetings. I’ll share more about that in an upcoming edition of “The Boss.”

Meanwhile, thanks to Hanson for sharing her story and a beautiful piece of pottery to boot.
