DLA Piper's (and FT's) Zeidman Gains Free Enterprise Award
Philip Zeidman, senior partner at DLA Piper and general counsel for the International Franchise Association, is the first recipient of the IFA Dennis Wieczorek Free Enterprise Award. He will accept the award during the IFA’s annual convention, Feb. 20-23 in San Antonio.
Earlier this year, the IFA board of directors voted to reinstitute the former IFA Free Enterprise Award and rename it in honor of the contributions to franchising made by the late Dennis Wieczorek, former general counsel to the IFA. Wieczorek was a beloved partner at DLA Piper and a great friend to franchising, so the name of the award gives it special meaning.
Zeidman’s “enormous contributions” to promote the franchise model “have helped to make franchising the force it is today,” said IFA Chair Melanie Bergeron, chairwoman of Two Men and a Truck International, in a statement.
When it comes to the evolution of franchising, “no one has written, lectured and counseled more on the subject than Philip Zeidman,” continued the IFA’s announcement, which then went on to list the countries where he’s appeared—more than 36 countries, from Australia through Turkey.
Franchise Times wishes to add its own salute to Zeidman, for his column on international franchising that appears in every issue dating back for years. Well-deserved, Mr. Zeidman.
