Newcomers Freshen Up Annual Fast & Serious List

Published:

Heather Elrod is CEO of Amazing Lash Studio, making its debut on the Franchise Times Fast & Serious list.

Amazing Lash Studio is the highest-ranking newcomer on our annual Franchise Times Fast & Serious list, which ranks the 40 smartest-growing franchise brands based on a 10-point proprietary formula that emphasizes sustainable unit and sales growth over a three-year period.

I can’t tell you where it ranked until the issue publishes January 1, because that would take all the fun of it, but I can say Heather Elrod, CEO, has a remarkable story to tell about her systematic approach to take over from the founders and get growth going.

America’s Swimming Pool Co. is another newcomer, and its founder Stewart Vernon had a wry observation as to why he started the company in the first place, back in his hometown of Macon, Georgia.

“I found it was a service-oriented business that was lacking service,” he said, and once he “stumbled into the franchising world” his expansion plan was born. Now, “106 owners later,” a digital platform called PoolOps is a key component in a bumped-up growth rate over the past three years.

One more newcomer, RNR Wheels & Tire, found success at the tactical level, with a one-time promotion a couple of years ago, in which customers could get a new set of tires and pay for them six months same as cash. “Over 30 percent of our customer base is probably single moms,” said founder Larry Sutton. “It just was tremendously successful. We had so many comments about it that we just decided to make it part of who we are.”

That’s all you’ll get for now, but see the full list of 40 companies and learn who’s No. 1 in the January issue of Franchise Times.
