Group Seeks Comments on Proposed Guidelines
It’s time for the franchising industry to weigh in.
The board of NASAA, North American Securities Administrators Association, is seeking public input on a proposed multi-unit commentary related to state franchise disclosure laws.
The idea is to provide “practical guidance,” the organization says, for disclosing “certain multi-unit franchising arrangements that have become common in franchising” but are not specifically addressed under earlier guidelines.
The comment period is now through November 15, 2013. View the proposal at www/nasaa.org/regulatory-activity/nasaa-proposals/.
The proposed commentary describes three multi-unit franchising structures, and notes there are no universally accepted terms for the structures within the industry. The NASAA group recommends franchisors use the terms adopted in the commentary.
