Info you could use
In every published story there are interesting tidbits that don’t make it into the final draft. Here are a few terms we learned and stories we heard during the trade mission to China in November.

A license to steal: In Beijing people make money watching cars to ensure their license plates, not the actual cars, aren’t stolen when parked on the street. License plates are a hot commodity because of a lottery system for city plates. A limited number of plates are issued and only cars with Beijing plates are allowed into the downtown area during the day. Stealing license plates, therefore, has become a black market industry. Cars aren’t the only vehicle with value. The cost for someone to watch a parked bicycle is 5 cents.
Taking a stand: Traveling on a train during the holidays in China can be exhausting because standing-room-only tickets are sold and sometimes the trips are two days long.
