New Year’s Resolutions

Published:

There’s something about a new year that makes us want to be better. We asked several franchise executives what they had on tap for 2014 and not one of them went for the cheap joke and said Budweiser. Here are their answers to what their business and personal resolutions are for the new year, and unlike our 20 to Watch feature, we won’t be reporting back next year to see if they’ve accomplished what they set out to do in 2014.

Sid Feltenstein

Operating Partner at Sentinel Capital Partners

BIZ: To continue to add value on the boards that I have the privilege to work with.

 PERSONAL: Lose 20 pounds!

Aki Yamaguchi

U.S. Gyu-Kaku

BIZ:  As a chain, this is obviously a year of the biggest growth in U.S. Gyu-Kaku history. In 16 months, we became a chain of 30 restaurants from 18 restaurants. We would like to make a lot of impact in new markets such as Miami, Houston, Las Vegas, Philadelphia and San Diego while keeping the highest existing restaurant performance.

PERSONAL: Make sure our franchisees feel confident with our brand and support, and that my 3-year-old daughter remembers me.

John Francis

John Francis

Owner/President, Twin State Development Inc.

BIZ & PERSONAL: Be less busy and more valuable in 2014. My personal vision for business is I want “to help people get it right (franchising), without (me) having a job.”

Jennifer Loffredo

BIZ: Reapply and get the Franchise Team Leader Position

PERSONAL: Get more exercise

Mary Rogers

BIZ: To our own biz be true! (Remember what inspired us when we got started!)

PERSONAL: Messy, messy, messy—to engage in creative messes more often (out of chaos comes order)

Mary Ann O’Connell

Mary Ann O’Connell

President of FranWise

BIZ: I am resolved to complete last year’s resolution.

PERSONAL: Either cure cancer, broker world peace or lose some weight. I haven’t figured out which is most attainable yet.

John Rotche

John Rotche

BIZ: In 2014, we will align our entire team—franchisees, home office staff and business partners—around our Brand Purpose and Core Values.

PERSONAL: In 2014,  I will align my family-kids-wife (and dog) around our Family’s Purpose and Core Values.
