Citing Appeal of City, AtWork Opens Birmingham Office

As the author of our Urbane Franchisor column, my ears perk up whenever a franchise mentions the appeal of the city in its business plans. The latest example is national staffing franchise, AtWork Group, which opened its newest office in greater Birmingham as the company pushes toward 100 locations.

The new franchise location is owned and operated by business partners Josh Bullock and James Dorroh, and will offer staffing solutions for the communities in the greater Birmingham area and Jefferson County.

“The Birmingham metro area is a population center brimming with economic activity,” said Jason Leverant, president and COO of AtWork Group. “Josh and James bring a background of service to the community, along with a genuine desire to help people, which is at the heart of AtWork’s core value of exceptional customer service.”

James Dorroh managed personnel as a church music director and Josh Bullock has a background serving customers in the insurance industry. Both espouse a perspective that people come first. In a release about the new location, Bullock called his approach “staffing match-making.”

“As a Millennial myself, I realized how difficult it is to find that dream job,” he added. “Also, I saw how our changing economy is influencing recruiting and job searching. I am thrilled to be partnering with AtWork Group to bring their more than 25 years of experience to the greater Birmingham area.”

AtWork is one of the largest staffing companies based on revenues, and says it is one of the fastest growing staffing firms in the country. It hopes to have a network of close to 200 franchise locations by 2022.

The new franchise is located at 5415 Beacon Drive, Suite 163, in Irondale, Alabama, on the northeast side of the Birmingham metro area. It will provide staffing assistance in the hospitality, light industrial, clerical and information technology industries. They will facilitate temporary, temp-to-hire and full-time placements.
