Hardee’s Honors Loyal Crime Author

QSR brand marketing continues to get weirder and more personal, with the latest example being Hardee’s who has gone all out for award-winning author Brad Parks, who’s been using his local Hardee’s as the backdrop for his famous crime series.

Timed to the release of Parks latest novel, “Closer Than You Know,” which debuts this week and features the restaurant, Hardee’s will honor their biggest fan by placing a full-page ad in the local newspaper celebrating him and the release of his latest crime thriller, Closer Than You Know. That ads will be running in The New Leader, in Staunton, Virginia.

In addition to the local ad buy, the company is also presenting Parks with a commemorative Lifetime Achievement Award plaque, which will be put on display on his favorite booth at the Staunton location. The company also gave him some personalized business cards with the title “Resident Novelist.”

As part of its release on the topic, the company said, “Unsurprisingly, Hardee’s is especially fond of those who share the same appreciation for the comfort of Southern food and hospitality.

While I try keeping up with the unusual marketing tactics from major QSR brands, in particular, I am continually impressed with the creativity from marketing teams in the industry. If the idea well runs dry, allow me to suggest full-page ads promoting the franchise industry’s best news and information source. We’ll take a gold-plated plaque, too, please.
