Hobnobbing in Omaha

Bill Gates

Franchise Times spotted Dairy Queen CEO John Gainor alongside Warren Buffett and Bill Gates at the recent Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting in Omaha. Buffett's company, Berkshire, has owned Dairy Queen since 1997 and Gainor has been CEO since 2006. Gainor is carrying a refrigerated bag of frozen Dilly Bars to hand out to participants in Buffett's traditional newspaper toss contest that precedes the annual meeting.  As you may know, Buffett was a former newspaper boy for the Omaha World Herald, which he now owns.

In the second picture, Gainor, Buffett and Gates watch Gate's newspaper toss. Gates, a good friend of Buffett, serves as a director of Berkshire. Berkshire's annual meeting drew over 35,000 shareholders, investors and Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary company employees this year to Omaha. Dairy Queen had an exhibit booth at the annual meeting and sold Dilly Bars for $1.00 to benefit the Children's Miracle Network
