Menchie's to Freshii: Froyo Is too a Good Business
From the “least surprising development” file comes this: Menchie’s CEO Amit Kleinberger believes the frozen-yogurt business has staying power, and his PR person shot back this reply to Freshii CEO Matthew Corrin’s potshot at the industry a mere three days after I posted it last week.
“While Matthew Corrin’s open letter is urging frozen yogurt franchisees to convert to a Freshii, Kleinberger’s statistical evidence shows there is no slowing down in frozen yogurt. Already the largest self-service frozen-yogurt franchise in the world, here’s a look at growth by the numbers”:
There are 540 Menchie’s locations globally; 11 countries have a Menchie’s; and 600 Menchie’s franchises are expected by the end of 2016, said the note from Konnect PR on behalf of Kleinberger.
“At the end of the day, frozen yogurt is always getting thrown under the bus as a poor business endeavor. The question remains—is it really?” the note says. Kleinberger, presumably, would say a resounding no.
