Inspire Brands Finalizes Jimmy John’s Acquisition


The acquisition of sandwich giant Jimmy John’s has gone through, so the nearly 3,000-restaurant brand is now part of Inspire Brands, which is now the fourth-largest restaurant company in the United States.

With a new total of 11,200 restaurants under the Inspire portfolio, including Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Sonic Drive-In and Rusty Taco, the growing Atlanta-based parent company has a presence in 16 countries and more than $14 billion in annual system sales. 

According to the Franchise Times Top 200+, that would make the combined company the seventh largest U.S.-based franchise, just above Domino’s and just below Subway, however its restaurant brands are listed separately in the ranking.

As previously announced, James North has been named President of the Jimmy John’s brand, reporting to Paul Brown, and founder Jimmy John Liautaud is serving as an advisor to the brand.Inspire Brands itself is part of Roark Capital Group, which collectively generates $37 billion in annual system revenues from 36,000 locations in 50 states and 81 countries.
