Hashim Gift Aims to Boost Education in Franchising
Aziz Hashim, CEO, NRD Holdings
Aziz Hashim and his wife, Farahnaz, are trying to bolster franchising education by endowing a faculty position in franchise entrepreneurship at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business.
“Within the quick-service restaurant category, there is a lack of formal training,” Hashim said in a statement, adding he hopes the new endowment “will help fill this void.”
School of Hospitality director Debby Cannon said she expects strong demand for franchising curriculum. She notes Atlanta is home to “more than 82 franchise headquarters, many of which are hospitality-centered.”
Hashim is CEO of NRD Holdings, which owned 60 restaurants at its peak, and is launching the first franchisee-sponsored and managed equity fund.
